Well hello there!
I’m so excited to be here for my first blog as the new owner of Tom Thumb’s Miniatures. I sent out the first newsletter this week introducing myself but in case you missed it. I'll give you a quick intro so you know who I am! My name is Claire, I live in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia with my husband, kids and puppy sidekick, Frankie. My career has included librarian, stay-at-home-mum, homeschooling mum and now a miniatures shop owner. Isn't life interesting? You never know where it will take you!
If you are interested in a monthly recap of what's happening at Tom Thumb's in the newsletter, you can pop yourself on the mailing list here.
I'm not sure if anyone here is following me on social media, but if you are then you will know it has been a bit of a whirlwind so far! I opened the shop in early November but soon discovered the stock I had didn't completely match the website. My previous librarian life kicked into action and I found myself on a massive organisation exercise, including a full stock take of the store, re-arranging shelving and products, while learning how to find everything. I look forward to sharing more behind the scenes content as my work area (aka my spare lounge room) comes together.
I have lots of ideas for the store and am still planning how this will look in the New Year. I am keen to explore DIY miniature making, different types of miniatures, miniature displays and tourist sites, as well as local creators and artists. I would love to share ideas and inspiration and connect with other miniature lovers out there. It's wonderful knowing that this community exists and that you never know what creativity could be bubbling under the surface of every person you meet, online or in real life. If you have thoughts for what miniature products you would like to see in the shop, please do drop me a line.
That's all from me for now. I'll be back in January for regular blogging and sharing the magic of miniatures. In the meantime, please note that there are just a couple more days left if you want to receive orders by Christmas in Australia (14 December). The 60% off sale will continue until Christmas, although the final day for orders this year is 22 December. You are still welcome to place orders up until Christmas but they will be sent in the New Year.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Claire
